As a Concrete Construction worker, we punish our work boots more than any other trade. Each year I find myself trying a different work boot to see if I can find the perfect pair to successfully make it through the season.
This year I find myself EXTREMELY pleased with my choice and would put these work boots on my Top 5 List.

I judge my work boots off of 3 criteria:
- Comfort
- Durability
- Cost
Comfort for Cozy Side
Although I’m a rugged man who breaks and builds stuff with his hands, I also like myself a little comfort. What’s wrong with that?!
If you are working a normal 40 hour work week (we know you’re working way more than that) you are on your feet for almost 2,000 hours a year!
If you are walking in a boot that is NOT comfortable, you will have a MISERABLE 2,000 hours.
This is exactly why I put Comfort as my number 1 criteria for what I look for in a work boot.
The Danner Bull Run 6″ Work Boot not only has a comfortable base to walk on, but more importantly, the tongue and laces lay very well on the top of your foot.
Nothing bothers me more than when the tongue of the boot moves from side to side, or the fold on the tongue digs into the top of your foot.
Comfort Rating: 8.32 out of 10
Durability for the Wild Man
Since you’re someone who chose to work construction for a living, it’s safe to say you have a wild side to you. Needless to say, you’re an animal and are the backbone to your country’s economy.
Knowing you have a wild side, I know that you bust ass when you work. That means you get the job done by any means necessary.
You jump in the wet concrete without concrete boots on, you’re on your hands and knees putting a beautiful finish (scraping the toes of your boots), and you use your boots as stabilizers and leverage points.
Above all other trades, you put your boots to the test and Durability is an absolute MUST.
You cannot have the steel toe failing, fabric withering away, or laces breaking mid day when you’re getting your work in.
There are many ways to maintain your work boots during the year so that this does not happen; but let’s be honest, I don’t prioritize it (even though I should)
These Danner Boots are surprisingly really tough. This year we were extra busy and I upgraded my coffee to the double shot of espresso, and STILL these boots are standing the test of time.
Danner Durability: 9.1 out of 10
Cost that Doesn’t Break the Bank
DISCLAIMER: These are not the cheapest boots! However, they are not the most expensive either.
Starting off my career, I would go to Walmart and find the least expensive boots and deal with the blisters throughout the year.
After years of torture I moved my way up to the less expensive Cabela’s Boots and the blisters went away but I was buying a new pair, sometimes two pairs, every year.
The last time I checked this specific pair Danner boots were around $200. I KNOW IT’S A LOT OF MONEY. But cost goes beyond money!
What is it costing you walking around in pain because your boots suck so you’re working 10% slower?
What is it costing you to have your feet in pain and you are not thinking clearly so you make mistakes?
Honestly, our work boots may be our most important purchase we make each year.
